Phil "Fang" Volk was the bassist for Paul Revere and the Raiders during their hit-laden days of the mid-1960s. As a Raider, Phil had many top ten hits, including "Steppin' Out", "Just Like Me", "Good Thing", "Kicks" and many more.

Phil got his "Fang" nickname from Paul Revere due to his toothy smile. He became known to the fans when the band appeared daily as the "house band" on Dick Clark's afternoon teen show "Where the Action Is".  When Phil finished a song, he would usually flip his bass over to reveal "FANG" written in black tape on the back. This move took him out of the anonymity of the background behind lead vocalist Mark Lindsay and he attained a huge fan following.

Phil left Paul Revere and the Raiders in the latter part of the 60s to move on musically. You can find out more about Phil's history at his website.
