THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED
MAKE THE 12/11/04 GHOSTWALK SO INTERESTING AND FUN! Four of us (Michael, Pat, Keith
and Katie) walked the Wiouwash trail behind Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh
on 12/11/04. The weather was cloudy
but dry, the temperature hovering in the 30s, humidity about 70%. The air was clear and there was very
little wind. Michael had his
digital video and digital still cameras, while I had my old Olympus digital
camera. We stopped and took photos along the way both going and
returning. After the walk, we went over to
the Starseed shop in downtown Oshkosh and were very graciously greeted by Merrily and her friends at Starseed.
After warming up with hot drinks and sweet goodies, we were then given a
grand "ghost tour" of the building Starseed is in, which is host
to the ghost of a little girl accidentally killed when she fell over her
cat on the stairs. The ghost of the
cat is also reported to be present (there is possibly more than one ghost
kitty). I'm providing here the best of
the photos I took from both places. There are the ORIGINAL versions of the
photos AND "gamma corrected" versions which reveal more detail. There are both mists and orbs in these
photos. The orbs I could possibly
explain as dust or water particles but there was very little wind that
night. Additionally they would have appeared in EVERY photo, not just the
few that I post here. The small
bright yellowish lights are street lights from Algoma Blvd and the bright
lights on tree trunks are reflectors. Possibly orbs can be caused by
reflecting these lights inside the camera lens, but personally I think
that's stretching it a bit for some orbs (not all). The mist I cannot explain at
all. It is winter, the air is dry. There was a ditch between the trail and
the cemetery that could possibly account for the mist, but there was
nothing visible to the eye and we were not smoking. On the second mist photo, the mist is
actually obscuring the brush that I was standing right in front of --there
was no ditch between me and that particular mist.
