Here at the Daniel Library one of my responsibilities was to empty the coin
machines and prepare a deposit. I knew from experience that there were peak
periods in the semester when the machines had to be emptied on a daily basis
but when the machines were emptied there was just a minimal amount there. I
reported this to the office.
To make a long story short our Public Safety
officers installed a security camera in the air conditioning vent in the
library to video who was taking the money. Well--the money was still short (a
lot) every morning and the tape was blank.
We came to find out that one of the janitors (who has been working here for 10 years) had seen them install the camera
and would climb on a chair, turn off the camera, steal the money, then turn the
camera back on. They finally caught her red handed with money that had been
dusted and we were able to determine that she had stolen approx. $10,000 in a
year!
The really sad part is that since she was arrested the money count has
been fine but the library looks like ....
