It was a cold dark rainy morning as the lady staff member
busied herself turning on equipment for the impending opening of the
building. Suddenly a dark figure loomed in front of her.
"Say this is
the darkest Library I've ever been in."
After recovering from a very
near faint/heart attack, the staff member found that a maintenance
person ( who had come in the building to turn on the heat) had left
the rear door ajar. This person did not think it was unusual that
no one was in any of the offices he walked through. Also, he did not
think that since all the lights were off maybe HE was not supposed
to be in there.
The shaky legged staff member took him downstairs and
had circulation look after him for the next 15 minutes. She did say
something about "clutch the pearls" and "pea-brained" in between some
muttering that day. Had she been a male, I think I heard some bad words,
but I must have been mistaken as none of the "Ladies" I work with would
ever swear...not!
