As to delusional catalogers - I can't believe anyone can top one of ours that had to take a "forced" early retirement. She became a hypochondriac and self-diagnosed all kinds of dread diseases and sat out in the clinic nearly everyday. Her family had her committed and she needed electro-shock therapy before she could make any sort of recovery. But for about 3 years, all of us at work had to endure a daily running commentary about the state of her body fluids etc. She even used the work telephone to call various friends and relatives to announce her imminent death and ask them to be honorary pallbearers.
