I could not resist answering this one because I have a story which I will
never forget. It was not scary to me but to someone else. I was laughing
so hard I could hardly stand up myself.
Before Moving to Tallahassee and my job at FSU Libraries I worked for 10
years for the Manatee County Library System. For a few of those years I
worked at a branch library which has very active Summer Children's Programs
every year. Since I love kids I was always involved in some way. Our
Branch Library came up with a very popular idea of a Puppet workshop on
Friday Mornings before the Library opened. There was always a few minutes
between when the workshop ended and the library opened when the children
were pretty much on their own while we set things up to open.
One Friday morning I heard a distant scream behind me and turned around to
see what was going on. One of the children had crawled into the book drop
and stuck his hand up (through) it to see how far he could reach. We rushed out the
back door and all we saw were the library books on the ground beside the
book drop. No patron could be seen anywhere.
