The scariest thing that ever happened to me was just recently. It was when a graduate student took it for granted that he should be allowed to use phones in our technical service area. Some people just don't understand what signs such as "Library Staff Only" mean.

I had gone on break and came back to find him on my phone conducting what seemed to be some type of personal phone interview. When he hung up he proceeded to make another call. He was severely reprimanded for his conduct and promptly shown the sign restricting admission to our area. Apparently he had been giving another coworker problems too.

Four weeks later he showed up again, and demanded very angrily from another lady who works in my area that she confess that she had given him permission to use the phone. He was confusing her with me (and no permission had been given).

We were very shook up by the incident. Apparently the university was taking steps to discipline him and he was very hostile. Luckily, our director came to our aid and dispatched him immediately. Needless to say, I was nervous for a while that he would show up somewhere. I wonder if other tech services areas ever experience intruders?
