The library elevator was being painted. The workmen had it shut off, the door propped open, step ladder and wagon full of supplies sitting IN the doorway of it. There was a sign INSIDE the elevator stating wet paint. There were signs OVER the elevator buttons stating elevator not in service, please use stairs.

A doc (not sure if full doc or resident) stepped over all the supplies into the elevator and pushed buttons, waited for the door to close - which of course it didn't. He stepped out, lifted the sign off the buttons, punched the buttons, got back into the elevator and waited. He then got back out, looked over all the stuff, looked all around him, and then walked to the Reference Desk. He asked the librarian (who had watched the entire senario) "Is something wrong with the elevator?"

I think the librarian deserves an Academy Award for not laughing in his face!
