Popsicle Girl
The only "scarey" story I have regarding food is this. When I first got
this job (about 10 years ago), I asked a young patron who came into the
library eating a popsicle to be sure to put the wrapper in the wastebasket.
We have wastebaskets all over the place. After she left, I went to see
if she had in fact used the wastebasket. I couldn't find the wrapper.
About an hour later as I was picking up and shelving, I picked up our
copy of Cecil's Textbook of Medicine (price $100) and found the wrapper
and melted popsicle under it.
I don't know if the patron was annoyed that I had spoken to her and
wanted to "fix" me or if she had forgotten about the popsicle. I did
learn, however, to just be quiet and keep an eye out for spills and such.
