| EVP or "Electronic Voice Phenomena" are unexplained sounds, voices or other audio anomolies that could be attributed to the paranormal. A good place to find out more is Haunted Voices.
During investigations we will record extensively and then review our files later on for evidence of EVP. Generally, we use digital and analog voice recorders, micro-cassette recorders and camcorders to record sound. While recording, we will make verbal notations of odd sounds we can hear, such as traffic going by, stomachs growling, etc. Additionally, as we examine the recordings, we try to find evidence that any odd sounds or voices found can be attributed to living individuals, nearby sounds of nature or broadcasts such as ham radio or commercial radio/tv. Once we ascertain that there is no other explanation, we will sometimes open up discussion to people outside our group, allowing them to conduct the same type of examination and discussion. Reverse speech versions We do not necessarily see reversing recordings as a valid form of investigation, as the science of "reverse speech" is still in development, but occasionally present reversed versions as an interesting footnote to the investigation. |
